Cherry Blossom Festival

Instead of heading over to the nearest park, consider hitting up this festival for a mellow stroll through a cherry blossom wonderland. As you're surrounded by blooming blush-toned petals, try your hand at the art of origami, learn about the elegant trees and even take a budding stalk home — perfect for ushering in spring. Pro tip: Book your tickets in advance, many others will want photos of cherry blossoms.

The two-weekend festival will be kicked off with a parade, showcasing plenty of giant inflatable whales. For a full schedule, visit the website

All Space Considered

Though this is a recurring public program at the Griffith Observatory, it might be particularly worthwhile to attend this session.  You'll have the chance to pick the brains of curatorial staff and astronomy professionals about the latest headlines in the space news like the discovery of seven new Earth-like planets and maybe even the plans to send two private citizens to the moon next year.

WHEN: Friday, March 3, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
WHERE: Griffith Observatory | MAP
COST: Free
