A neighborhood in Newport Beach is cleaning up this morning after a seawall was accidentally damaged Wednesday night, sending ocean water into the streets.
Witnesses say crews were doing demolition work at a house site, and mistakenly knocked down part of the wall in the process, just as the high tide was rolling in, according to our media partner NBC4.
A few homes and cars were reported damaged by the deluge, which was knee-deep in some areas. Some residents were even spotted wading through the water on paddle boards and inner tubes.
Orange County authorities have managed to stop the flooding with sandbags, but public works crews are still working on a more permanent solution.
