Authorities say a teen who turned himself in to police has confessed to molesting some 50 children over a span of eight years across Southern California.
Police say 18-year-old Joseph Hayden Boston was brought to a Riverside police station Saturday by his mother after he allegedly told her he had sexually assaulted two boys, ages 8 and 4, at a motel.
Officer Ryan Railsback with the Riverside Police Department said Boston confessed to the motel assaults.
"It's obvious from our detectives that he was seeking help for what he's been doing, but there are no winners in this whole situation," Railsback told KPCC.
Railsback says Boston also admitted molesting about 50 children since the age of 10 in different cities where he had lived.
Boston is a Lakewood resident but has been staying in Riverside since early November. He has also lived or stayed in Buena Park.
Most recently, Boston was staying at the Simply Home Inn & Suites, on Magnolia Ave. in Riverside, where he befriended the 8- and 4-year-old male victims, who were also staying at the motel with their parents.
Last night, the children were allowed to go into the Boston's room, where the molestation occurred. Hours later, he called his mother and told her what he had done. Those two boys are now in custody of child protective services.
Railsback encourages parents who believe Boston befriended their kids to first speak with their children, and then contact Riverside detectives if necessary. Anyone with information about this investigation or the suspect can contact detective Paul Miranda at 951-353-7945 or email@example.com.
Boston has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of oral copulation on a child under the age of 10 and jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.
It wasn't immediately known if Boston has an attorney.
The investigation is ongoing.
