Three lanes of the northbound 405 are closed early Tuesday morning due to a collision late Monday night on the 405 Freeway at Santa Monica Boulevard.
A Los Angeles Police Department officer had pulled over a vehicle on the northbound 405 when another car crashed into the police cruiser, pinning the officer between two cars, according to NBC L.A.
The collision initially closed all northbound lanes south of Santa Monica Boulevard, but one lane and the HOV lane opened early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The officer was transported to the hospital with a serious leg injury, the LA Times reports. He is expected to survive.
The driver that caused the collision was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, NBC L.A. reports.
