The holidays in SoCal mean all of the festive spirit and none of the cold weather. Make the most of your weekend with some of these area events, including a light saber battle, a hill with real snow for sledding and the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade.
Candytopia is the newest pop-up art installation vying for your sweet tooth and a spot on your Instagram. The Willy Wonka-like interactive experience includes plenty of treats and a so-called "marshmallow tsunami." As you would expect, opening weekend is sold out. But something you can do this weekend? Buy your golden ticket.

What better way to celebrate the highly anticipated new Star Wars movie than with a light saber battle? You can bring your own light saber or you can buy one at the event for $10. Kids are welcome. Sound effects are encouraged.
Holiday cheer and beer are just meant to be together. Grab your ugly sweaters, Santa suits and elf hats and party the night away at some of Santa Monica's favorite bars. Your wristband gets you access to special food and drink discounts and tons of friends to travel with you on one of the four pub crawl routes.

Find tons of local, handmade items at the Mujeres Market. It's hosted by the Nalgona Positivity Pride organization, which advocates for body positivity for indigenous women of the Americas. Vendors will be selling unique shirts, cards, bags, crafts, food and more.

Make this weekend a staycation with Kevin McAllister. The holiday classic "Home Alone" is playing at the Los Angeles Theatre this weekend and you're all but required to wear your pajamas to it. Before the screening, you can enjoy the DJs, live music, a free ice cream bar and a themed photo booth.

Snow is nowhere in the forecast, but if your kids still want a white winter, the Discovery Cube might do the trick. They have tons of real snow to make snowmen and a 75-foot ramp for snow tubing. Kids can also learn the science of gingerbread and get a few physics lessons while sledding down a hill.

This SoCal tradition is one of the most spectacular holiday light displays in the nation. The boats, yachts, and even kayaks are decked out in thousands of lights. Marina Park is nicely situated on the parade route, but you can view the festivities from almost anywhere around the harbor.
