Irvine sent a letter this week to the Orange County Fire Authority saying it wants to withdraw from the agency in 2020. The city has complained for years about paying more than its fair share for servcies.

Placentia has also announced its intent to pull out. If both cities follow through, it could lead to further fragmentation of the county's emergency services.
