Unsheltered People Made Up 9 Percent Of All Homicide Victims in LA County In 2016

Police are investigating whether a string of local attacks on sleeping homeless men are related. An assailant with a baseball bat beat three people downtown LA early Sunday -- killing two. And the body of another man was found bludgeoned beneath the Santa Monica Pier early Thursday.

People living unsheltered in Los Angeles County are estimated to make up less than one percent of population. But coroner’s data shows they represented 9 percent of all homicide victims in 2016.
