You can ignore President Donald Trump's frequent tweets as much as you'd like, but at 11:18 a.m. Pacific time Wednesday October 3rd, your cell phone will pulse and buzz with a Presidential Alert.

And there's nothing you can do to stop it.

It's the first nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts system that sends urgent public safety messages to your cell phone in times of crisis.

It would be used to alert the entire nation to a terrorist event, or some other emergency that affects the whole population.
