Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer on Tuesday announced a settlement in a case involving health workers who say they were paid as little as $5.50 an hour to provide round-the-clock care for elderly and disabled patients in their homes.

The city's settlement with Health Alliance Nurses Corporation and Hand Homecare Provider Inc. includes $250,000 in restitution for workers, many of them female immigrants from the Philippines.
