Assemblymember Kevin McCarty announced Tuesday a new package of legislation that would expand preschool access in an effort to address the state's achievement gap.

The goal of the first bill is to close the achievement gap by making sure that all 3- and 4-year-olds from low-income families can attend state-funded preschool. The second bill in the package would provide funds for renovations and repairs of preschool facilities. And the third, aims to streamline the really complicated system for reimbursing preschool teachers and child care providers.
