Fifteen years ago, west Anaheim neighbors fiercely opposed Jamboree Housing's proposal to build 25 units for homeless people with mental illness. 

It took five years and several dozen community meetings, but Diamond Apartment Homes finally opened its doors in 2009. Now, most neighbors don't know it's any different than any other apartment complex, and two dozen formerly homeless OC residents and their families have permanent housing.
