Local School wins Oscar for Documentary about Period Menstruation

Last night’s Oscars ceremony had more than the usual local pride - a film from the Oakwood School in North Hollywood took the award for Best Short Documentary. And the film called Period. End of Sentence tackled a taboo subject - female menstruation. 

While it’s back to classes and homework for the students and teachers at the school, the excitement of seeing their tiny nonprofit become an Oscar winning film was still fresh on Monday.
