L.A. Unified schools superintendent Austin Beutner tells KPCC that school district leaders are not moving forward with a sweeping internal reorganization.

He was responding to documents published this week by the news site Chalkbeat detailing plans drawn up by consultants to “decentralize” LAUSD into 32 “networks” of schools.  Beutner says the documents show the consultants made bold suggestions, but he never intended to act on them.

“The notion that we get to closing the opportunity gap by radical change, I don’t believe in that, I never did,” he said.
