A lawsuit filed by an anti-tax group is challenging Measure EE, which asks voters in the Los Angeles Unified School District to enact a parcel tax that would create a new source of funding to help pay for the settlement that ended the teachers' strike.

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, which opposes tax increases, announced it is suing to block the June 4 ballot measure.  The suit says LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner overstepped his authority in ordering a significant change to the ballot language after the L.A. Unified school board had already voted to send Measure EE to the ballot.

The lawsuit “seeks an order stopping the counting of the ballots as well as the certification of the election results,” according to a press release from the association.
