Some votes have yet to be counted, but today the Los Angeles City Council recognized John Lee as councilman-elect for the district covering northwestern San Fernando Valley. Lee would be only the third Asian American ever elected to council.

John Lee, a Republican, would join another Korean American on the council, David Ryu, a Democrat whose district includes Hollywood. It would mean two Asian Americans serving on the council at the same time, a first for LA.

We hear from Mike Woo, the city's first Asian American councilman on what  he thinks about this development.
