Last night at Staples Center, the Clippers beat the Lakers in a thrilling season opener. And that wasn’t all. The game was also a big deal for some NBA fans invested in ongoing protests in Hong Kong.
Before the game, dozens of volunteers said they gave away 10,000 T-shirts supporting Hong Kongers who’ve been protesting Chinese influence. The T-shirts were made by a Bay-area man with $43,000 he raised in under two days on GoFundMe.
