A young woman is diagnosed with diabetes. Her response: conduct a frontal assault against it in society. Megan Cory learned she had the disease around the time she turned 14. Now a 20-year-old UCLA senior studying biochemistry, she is a high-energy anti-diabetes warrior.
Cory invented an interactive blood glucose monitor for children, she counsels kids with diabetes, and she co-founded DiaBeaters, the first active diabetes awareness organization at UCLA. She's also conducting diabetes research in the lab.
"I’ve had the opportunity to really be in this diabetes world for several years now," she says. "I feel that it is my duty to share what I’ve learned with others so that they can live a healthy and happy life like me."
