The top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan, Marine General John Allen, testified before the House Armed Services Committee Tuesday morning. He stated that the U.S. is on track to withdraw combat forces from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

General Allen spoke directly to recent events that have had a negative impact on the effort. He noted the burning of Qurans by coalition troops and the murder of 16 civilians, allegedly committed by a U.S. serviceman.
