A coalition comprised of different faith based groups has announced its plans to begin to offer sanctuary to immigrants who are on the brink of deportation. Using the sanctuary movements offered to Central American immigrants fleeing civil wars during the 1980's as an example, the New Sanctuary Movement will offer refuge for undocumented migrants in cities around the nation, beginning today with churches in Los Angeles and New York.
