What happens when history repeats itself? Over a half-century after the Holocaust and 13 years after the Rwandan genocide, a new film documents the death and destruction that has ravaged Africa's largest nation, Sudan. Through interviews with refugees, government officials, journalists, and aid workers, Sand and Sorrow explores the history behind the genocide in Darfur, the plight of the millions of displaced, and the inaction of the international community. Peabody-award winning director, Paul Freedman, joins Patt Morrison to discuss the making of the film.
