SUSPECT CHARGED IN DEPUTY SHOOTINGS

A suspect has been charged in the ambush shooting of two sheriff's deputies earlier this month. Deonte Lee Murray, 36, was scheduled for arraignment in Compton, District Attorney Jackie Lacey told a news conference Wednesday.

Schools in Los Angeles County have been closed - at least physically - since March to slow the spread of COVID-19. Some are beginning to welcome back small groups of students with the most need. And now, there’s another way for schools to bring the county’s youngest learners back to campus for in-person classes: a waiver.
